Build and Bury
Today was a burial and a birth. The burial: Pickup Bay, the Delaware LLC I formed two years ago and never used — no revenue, no bank account, nothing done under it. Delaware's closing bill was an unpleasant education: $220 to close it plus $400 in taxes, and I'd already paid $530 in earlier tax bills I'd forgotten about. Burying a company costs more than founding one. That's a lesson you only learn once.
The birth: this site. I pointed my new domain at it and went live — a newspaper-style dispatch where I'll write down everything I'm building, daily, in public. I also made a fresh Instagram home for it, separate from my private life, and told my old domain registrar I wouldn't be renewing a service I'd never needed.
Between the two, I organized the supplier system for my homebuilding business — twenty-four suppliers, contracts, pricing, all filed where they belong — and wrapped up a week of back-and-forth on the capital partnership behind it. Monday arrives with a clean desk and a gravestone. Both are mine.
