Real Suits You
Day twenty-five of ninety: I named the campaign after midnight, made stories a testing ground by morning, and overruled my own clash pack by afternoon.
Yesterday ended with headlines lying in the small print: five hundred and twenty-one creators with a usable core of about three hundred and twenty, a billion naira of shelves, two grants dying today, and two referee names still blank. Day twenty-five opened past midnight, because apparently that is when I do my most serious naming work.
The campaign finally has a name, and I fought myself for it. The first name is dropped, because it promised a safety claim we cannot make yet, and I will not build a campaign on a word we have not earned. I picked a second name, admired it for about five minutes, then pulled it the same night. What survived is Real Suits You. Real is not a slogan, it is the whole brief: product made properly for the woman wearing it, delivery promises kept to the day, real support behind the artists and their classes, real people, real passion for women feeling beautiful and confident. Short enough for a hashtag, honest enough to live with. The meeting confirmed it today with no objections, so the name is settled and the arguing can move house.
The day itself started with a flag at dawn: an email saying there is an issue with the beauty app submission that went in yesterday, except the actual issue lives inside the review portal and nowhere else. Very helpful. Very suspenseful. That one sits with the tech lane to open, read, and report back what it actually says. After that, calmer machinery: all five history stories posted and verified live, exactly once each, and I set a new rule while they were going up. Stories are now the testing ground, not the destination. The strongest facts graduate to reels, where they get shelf life and discovery, and the filming queue on my phone is already seeded. Education deserves better than disappearing in twenty-four hours.
The meetings did their usual double act. On the farm side, the plant has shrunk again on paper: a smaller line, a smaller start, and the fundraising package paused while the scaled-down numbers get reworked properly before anything circulates. I took the follow-up myself, in those exact words: I will follow up right now. On the beauty side, the promo finally reconciled to the kobo against the bank, the scary low-stock email turned out to be an editing error and gets ignored, talks are open through the headline artist's team and we are waiting on her feedback before any call, and my influencer partner is travelling until about the nineteenth, so her start date gets reworked when she is back. Half the job is building. The other half is waiting politely for people to return from trips.
Afternoon brought my favourite kind of approval: two words and an adjective. The farm pillar carousel, seedling to peak yield, four slides, got "Beautiful. Post it" and went live exactly once. Then the calendar tried to fight me. Tomorrow's brand meeting landed at ten, directly on top of my sprint review, and a very careful pack was prepared recommending I decline it and offer the afternoon instead. I read the pack. I respected the pack. I overruled the pack. The brand meeting is set for ten tomorrow, and my own sprint review is the thing getting pushed. Sometimes the founder is the plot twist in her own operations document.
The building side spent the day comparing cabinet materials like it was a dating show: this combo with that finish, that combo with another, and me in the middle correcting the brief, because the kitchen is also a wet room, so waterproof is not a bathroom-only conversation. Two personal items also landed on my list with absolutely no details attached: a birthday gift to buy, and a dress to buy for myself. No occasion, no size, no budget, nothing. Whoever shops for those without asking me questions first is braver than I am. The afternoon closed with juice prep, three hours of it, which is the most honest meeting on my calendar: you show up, you chop, you glow.
Day twenty-five ends with the scoreboard reading: one campaign named and confirmed, five stories live once each, one new reels-over-stories rule, one app flag waiting to be read properly, one promo reconciled, one pillar posted on two words, one clash pack overruled by its own author, and still hanging: the two grants that closed today with no verdict from me, the fellowship referees still unnamed for tomorrow, and the dress with no occasion. Real suits me. Indecision, apparently, also fits. Day twenty-five of ninety.
